Thirty Percent of Brazilians Believe Unemployment Will Drop Next Year, Survey Says

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In an event to honor the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) released a survey in partnership with Ibope showing that 30 percent of the Brazilian population is confident about the drop in unemployment in 2020. The same survey, however, points out that only 16 percent think that the issue of corruption will improve next year.

The survey interviewed 2,000 voters aged 16 or older, in 127 municipalities throughout Brazil. The interviews took place from December 5th to 8th, 2019. The survey’s margin of error is two percentage points and the reliability level is 95 percent.

Respondents were given a choice of three issues that should improve in 2020. Public safety and violence will be reduced for 24 percent of respondents. The same percentage believes in improving health and, 23 percent in education.

For nine percent, the cost of living, prices, and inflation should improve next year. Only four percent expect improvements in the country’s low economic growth and development. Still, four percent trust in improvements in the environment.

On Wednesday, December 11th, CNI awarded the Confederation’s Grand Collar of the Order of Industrial Merit to President Jair Bolsonaro.
