Man Kills Five People in Coastal São Paulo Town

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – Electrician Alex Sander Correia, 48, is accused of having shot his ex-wife, who is hospitalized, and of killing five people at dawn on Thursday, December 5th, in São Vicente (65 km from São Paulo), on the São Paulo coast. In the end he killed himself with a shot in the head.

According to Colonel Rogério Silva Pedro, commander of the Military Police in Baixada Santista, the accused lived with his ex-wife, in the Humaitá neighborhood, where he allegedly shot the victim twice after an argument.

The woman underwent surgery at the São Vicente Municipal Hospital, where she was hospitalized.

The police said that, after that, the accused went by motorcycle to the house of Margarete Neto Pinheiro de Jesus, 41 years, with whom he had maintained a relationship. At the scene, in the Cidade Náutica neighborhood, about 20 km from the first crime, he shot at Margarete, three women and a man, all from the same family.

Maísa das Graças Pinheiro Silva’s husband, 39, Margarete’s sister and one of the victims, said he and his wife were neighbors to the other people affected. The couple heard gunfire and went to Margarete’s house, where they found Larissa Pinheiro do Monte, 19, Maísa’s daughter, dead on the ground.

The man returned home and hid in a room with his 7-year-old son. While they were hiding he claimed to have heard other shots.

After that, the shooter returned home and shot himself in the head after seeing police officers.

“What we know so far is that the accused had discovered that he was not the father of a boy [8 years old] after a paternity test [that would have been done by Margarete] and then killed the people,” said the police officer.

The commander added that the crime “was premeditated,” because the electrician left the house with a revolver and a box of ammunition. All the victims were shot in the head, he added.

Neto Neves, 66, her daughters Maisa and Margarete, Larissa Pinheiro do Monte and Carlos Alberto Neves, 57, Daulina’s husband, died.
