99Food Will Compete With iFood and Uber Eats in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In addition to its transport App, 99 will launch a delivery service and compete with platforms such as iFood, Uber Eats, and Rappi.

99Food, as it was named, has a website to accept the pre-registration of restaurants and deliverers, but it has not yet set a date to start its testing phase.

The company has not announced which will be the first regions where 99Food will be available. However, the web page with a form for deliverers allows selecting only the city of Belo Horizonte.

In addition to earnings from orders, the service promises rewards for deliverers as they complete daily and weekly goals. To register, they need to fill out the form, send documents and visit the 99 Delivery Center.

Once the service is officially launched, users will be able to place delivery orders through the main 99 App or through an exclusive 99Food app.

With 19 million users in Brazil, 99 believes it can provide a competitive option for users, restaurants, and deliverers. According to the company, the service will focus on “options that combine affordable prices, efficient delivery and a variety of quality food”.

99 will be offering a service similar to DidiFood, which its owner Didi Chuxing offers in China and Mexico. The investment in Latin America is based on the prospect of growth in the already high number of deliveries recorded in the region.

According to the company, Brazil and Mexico lead the ranking, with 26 million and 15 million monthly deliveries, respectively.
