“We have received a very important piece of data from the ISP (Institute of Public Security of the State) today, we have numbers that make us the second safest city in Brazil and we are on our way to becoming the safest city in the country. This is a joy, it is a very special moment,” he said.

Witzel gave the statement in an interview with journalists behind the scenes on the first day of Rock in Rio. The governor highlighted the importance of the event for the city.

“I will ask Medina (event organizer) so that Rock in Rio will stay longer, not just two weeks, and it will be every year. We’ll do it next year, we’ll do samba and pagode. Rio de Janeiro is energy and joy,” he said.
