Federal Police Runs Operation Against Sale of Court Orders in Rio de Janeiro

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Federal Police began on September 24th, an operation against a scheme of sales of decisions in the courts of Rio de Janeiro.

According to the Federal Police, the criminal scheme involved the negotiation of injunctions granted by the courts, upon payment of undue advantages to public authorities.

The Federal Police’s Specialized Investigations Sector (SINQ) served 11 search and seizure warrants issued by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ).

They did not disclose the names of the targets of the so-called ‘Operação Plantão’ (“Operation On Duty”).

According to the Federal Police, the criminal scheme involved the negotiation of injunctions granted by the courts, upon payment of undue advantages to public authorities.
