Bolsonaro Disapproval Rates Leap From 28 Percent to 53 Percent in six Months

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – More than half of the population disapproves of President Jair Bolsonaro‘s performance. This is what the CNT/MDA Research Institute survey, released on Monday, shows.

The disapproval rate has increased significantly, reaching 53.7 percent, compared to 28.2 percent in February. Early in the year, 57.5 percent said they approved of the president’s performance, but this rate has now dropped to 41 percent. Those unable or unwilling to answer represented 5.3 percent of respondents.

In relation to Jair Bolsonaro’s government, disapproval also increased by twenty percentage points. The government’s negative rating jumped from nineteen percent in February to 39.5 percent in August. The positive rating has declined from 38.9 percent in February to 29.4 percent today. The government’s average rating stands at 29.1 percent, while two percent did not know what to answer.

Between August 22nd and 25th, 2,002 interviews were conducted in 137 municipalities in 25 Federation Units. The margin of error is 2.2 percentage points.
