Guilherme Costa’s gold medal in the 1,500 meters swimming was the milestone for the country to reach 53 gold medals in Lima and surpass its best Pan American Games campaign in history, held in Rio 2007, with 52 gold medals.

The Pan American Games lasted 19 days. During this time, Brazil demonstrated its dominance in several sports, impressed in others and also won medals that appeared to be almost inevitably lost. Overcoming and training go hand in hand in any sports competition. From the disappointment of the gymnast Arthur Zanetti, silver on the rings, to unprecedented gold in badminton, female boxing, and female taekwondo, Brazil has made history in Lima.
