Brazil’s Neymar Told he is Unlikely to Leave Paris Saint-Germain, at Least for Now

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Neymar has been alerted by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to the fact that he is unlikely to leave the club in this transfer window. Leonardo, the sports director behind the statement, was in contact with the player over the past week, just before the official meeting with management, according to the French newspaper L’Équipe, on Monday.

Contemplated by Barcelona, the No. 10 jersey has finally returned to PSG, appearing in their Camp des Loges training center for the first time in the current pre-season on Monday, July 15th. This Monday, incidentally, was the day scheduled for a meeting with the Parisians, during which the striker could have expressed his desire to be negotiated, according to many European news outlets.

It was then up to Leonardo to give the 27-year-old an indication on the club’s stance towards the situation. The Brazilian director reportedly had already informed Neymar’s staff that the chances of negotiation, particularly with Barcelona, are small. The Catalans might have spent too much money in this transfer window when they made official the signing of Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Grizmann.

Whether or not he is to remain in the Parc des Princes home of PSG, the No. 10 jersey is not expected to take the field against Dresden on Tuesday, when the French team will be playing their first friendly in the current pre-season.
