Concert of K-Pop Band “BTS” Causes Hysteria in São Paulo

By Contributing Reporter

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – South-Korean K-Pop Band “BTS” has an army of fans fighting for the band not only on social networks but also by clicking on YouTube videos, in its comment section and songs from streaming Apps.

Fans have also been camping near Allianz Parque in São Paulo since February. Anything goes to get a spot near the stage barrier for the concerts today, May 25th, and tomorrow.

There were nearly 30 tents this week, each holding 60 people taking turns. Before tickets were sold out, approximately 42,000 per show, the Korean Boys Band performed at three smaller gigs in Brazil in past years: for 1500 people in 2014, 8,000 in 2015 and 7,000 in 2017.

To keep things organized, fans have set up a group of administrators who meet to monitor certain aspects: a spreadsheet with a rotation timetable, sharing food costs and dividing groups for garbage collection and cleaning the area.

They have endured rain and some mice, but nothing can discourage this group.

Argentinians, Peruvians, and Chileans have joined the task force. Brazil is the only country in Latin America to host the “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” tour.

“We are not rich. We worked very hard to be here. We sold a bunch of stuff; we are missing college during exam season. And all this to fulfill our dream, because it is our greatest dream”, says one of the fans.
