RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A funny but unconfirmed news story is circulating in Dallas after local news outlet “Dallas Voice” published an interview yesterday with Jorge Baldor, a representative of Dallas based World Affairs Council. Therefore, the story appears in our “Entertainment” section.
In his interview, Jorge Baldor denied having invited President Jair Bolsonaro to be honored at the organization’s headquarters next Thursday, 16th.
“World Affairs Council did not issue an invitation,” Baldor said. “I did not issue an invitation. I do not want him here.”
“He invited himself,” Baldor told the website Dallas Voice. He continued: “Bolsonaro will not be receiving an award.”
The representative affirmed that there is no public forum scheduled and that Bolsonaro will only be having a private lunch with businesspeople.
Baldor also said the organization holds a contract with the city of Dallas to receive foreign officials.
Mayor Mike Rawlings confirmed today that he would not attend the luncheon or any other events involving Bolsonaro.
Half of the 14 Dallas city councilmen signed, on Tuesday afternoon, a letter opposing the visit to the city by the president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro.
