Dianne Reeves to Perform at Rio’s Municipal Theater this Monday

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – This Monday, October 8th, American jazz singer Dianne Reeves is set to grace the stage of Rio’s illustrious ‘Theatro Municipal’ (Municipal Theater) as part of the tour in support of her most recent Grammy Award-winning album, ‘Beautiful Life.’

‘Beautiful Life,’ Reeve’s recent album, is a summation of her remarkable career that has spanned both genres and decades. This Monday, performing onstage at the Municipal Theater, in Rio’s historic ‘Centro’ (City Center), Dianne Reeves will be joined by musicians Romero Lubambo (guitar), Peter Martin (piano), Reginald Veal (bass) and Terreon Gully (drums).

Often hailed as one of the greatest living jazz singers, Dianne Reeves is famous for both her vocal virtuosity, improvisational dexterity and her unique ability to blend both jazz and r’n’b.

She has been recognized with five Grammy Awards for ‘Best Jazz Vocal Album,’ an Honorary Doctorate in Music from the Juilliard School in New York, and most recently by being nominated as ‘Jazz Master’ by the National Endowment of the Arts in 2018.

Her music featured in George Clooney’s six-time Academy Award nominated ‘Good Night, and Good Luck,’ with Reeves winning the Best Jazz Vocal Grammy for the film’s soundtrack. She has also recorded with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Barenboim, and, more recently, Reeves has participated in ‘Sing the Truth,’ a musical tribute to Nina Simone.

Reeves’ most recent release ‘Beautiful Life,’ features Gregory Porter, Robert Glasper, Lalah Hathaway and Esperanza Spalding. Produced by Terri Lyne Carrington, ‘Beautiful Life’ won the 2015 Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance.
