Familiar with Carioca stages, Katy Perry has already performed in Rio de Janeiro two times – in 2011 and 2015, both in the Rock in Rio music festival. Having started in September 2017, the “Witness Tour” happens two years after Perry’s last project, the successful “Prismatic World Tour”.

Born in Santa Barbara, California, Katy Perry entered the music universe in the early 2000s, with a gospel music album that had very little repercussion. In 2008, however, Perry’s career absolutely took off with the smash single “I Kissed a Girl”, released in the album “One of the Boys”.

Having earned a nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in the 51st Grammy Awards, in 2009, Perry also remained on the top of the charts with her following albums “Teenage Dream” and “Prism”, specially for hits like “Part of Me”, “Wide Awake”, “Roar” and “Dark Horse”.

Singer, songwriter and also known as American Idol’s judge, Perry will go up on Rio’s stage this Sunday, March 18th, to present her latest album “Witness”, released in June 2017. Announced by Perry as a “pop with purpose” album, “Witness” dares to detour from the mainstream, predicted pop universe, including the participating of great names from the music industry, like Purity Ring, Michael Will-Made-it, Nick Minaj, Sia and Max Martin.

Having already passed by fifty other countries, the “Witness Tour” arrived in Brazil this Thursday, March 15th, when Katy Perry performed in Curitiba, Paraná (Brazil’s South). On Sunday, Perry is expected to amaze the Carioca audience with a vigorous show, full of pyrotechnic effects, humor and dance.

“I haven’t seen a show at Apoteose yet and I’ve wanted to. Plus, Katy has a reputation for elaborate live convert production and her music is quite enjoyable, silly and fun – a great recipe for an enjoyable late summer evening!,” says Dave Clark, American expat on sabbatical year, who lives in Rio since November 2017.

Apart from the “Witness” hits, like “Swish Swish”, whose video clip includes the participation of Brazilian singer Gretchen, Perry will also bring some famous singles from the beginning of her career.

Opening the show will be Bebe Rexha, New York pop singer who has already performed with names like Nick Jonas, Bruno Mars and Ellie Gouding.
