During four days, Lavradio Jazz Fest will promote eight musical attractions for free, like the Monte Alegre Hot Jazz Band, photo internet recreation.

Already in its sixth edition, the Lavradio Jazz Fest is inspired by New Orleans’ “Mardi Grass” (or “Shrove Tuesday”), one of the most important Carnival celebrations in the world. The festivity attracts several tourists every year, mainly for the great jazz bands playing on the streets during the event.

Opening the festival on Saturday, February 13th, will be group Quinteto Nuclear, at 1PM. Composed of both Carioca and American musicians, the band will present a jazz repertoire spiced up with funk and samba music. John Coltrane, Clifford Brown, Steve Coleman, Hermeto Paschoal and Lee Morgan are some of the names included in their show. At 4PM, the São Jorge Brass Band will present a show inspired by New Orleans’ traditional jazz.

Directly from Baixada Fluminense, the Baixada Jazz Big Band performs at the festival on Sunday, February 14th, at 1PM, while Monte Alegre Hot Jazz Band goes up on the stage at 4PM. Formed by musicians Arturo Cussen, Fernando Oliveira, Leandro Joaquim, Marco Serragrande, Rodrigo Serra, Tim Malik and Tom Ashe, Monte Alegre will bring all the energy from dixieland music, a jazz subgenre created in New Orleans in the early 1900s.

Running Monday’s line-up will be groups All That Jazz, which will perform at 1PM, and Orleans Original Jazz, at 4PM. The Carioca sextet Orleans Original Jazz will dedicate its performance to rhythms like dixieland and hot jazz.

Closing Lavradio Jazz Fest will be the great band Bondesom, which plays at 1PM. Inspired by artists like John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bill Evans and Pat Mathene, Bonsedom promises to make everyone move with the vibrant combination of jazz, Latin music, funk and MPB. Following, the Dolls & Dames New Orleans Band performs at 4PM.

During all days of Lavradio Jazz Fest, there will be two food trucks on the street.
