Nominated for the Oscar 2002 for “Best Writing”, “The Royal Tenembaums” (2001) is considered one of Anderson’s most important films, photo internet recreation.

Besides Anderson’s most famous productions, like “The Royal Tenembaums” (2001) and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” (2014), “Muito Além dos Tenembaums” will screen less known films among Cariocas, like the short Hotel Chevalier (2007), as well as cult classics Rushmore (1998) and Bottle Rocket (1996). The later two will be screened in a Carioca movie theater for the very first time.

“There is little material about Anderson in Portuguese. Thus, this project is not only about the film exhibition; we are also releasing a catalogue with diverse academic articles about Anderson’s work,” affirm Aline Fonte and Rodrigo Fomel, curators and producers of the event.

Also, “Muito Além dos Tenembaums” promotes three open debates about Anderson’s cinematography. Today, January 11th, at 5:30 PM, the audience will have the opportunity to participate in the round table discussion “A trilha sonora na obra de Wes Anderson”, on the role of the soundtrack in Anderson’s films.

Next Wednesday, January 17th, at 6PM, psychoanalist Abílio Ribeiro will run the lecture “A psicanálise na obra de Wes Anderson”, which will reflect on Anderson’s approach to themes like family relations.

Known for an audiovisual aesthetics that combines technical precision, symmetry, repetition of forms and a wide color pallet, the director from Houston, Texan is an essential reference for modern filmmakers.

Nominated six times for an Oscar, Anderson’s filmography, who began writing plays and making super-8 movies in his childhood, stands out for its remarkable original soundtracks and peculiar humor.

After a successful debut with “Bottle Rocket”, produced in 1994, in partnership with Hollywood actor Owen Wilson, “Royal Tenembaums” (2001) is often considered the watershed film of Anderson’s career. His next production, “Isle of Dogs”, will be released this year at the Berlin Film Festival.
