RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Tickets for the seven-day 2015 Rock in Rio music festival go on sale on Thursday, April 9th at 10AM. Held once again in Barra da Tijuca’s Cidade do Rock, the festival will take place on September 18th, 19th, 20th, 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th. Tickets will be available for individual days for R$350 (full-price) and R$175 (half-price for students, the elderly and those with special needs).
Confirmed artists for this year’s festival include Queen with Adam Lambert, One Republic, Lenine, Nação Zumbi, Metallica, Mötley Crüe, Korn, Ministry, Elton John, Rod Stewart, John Legend, System of a Down, Queens of the Stone Age, Deftones, Slipknot, Faith No More, Rihanna, Sam Smith, Katy Pery, A-ha, Robyn, Headhunterz and Crookers.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the Rock in Rio festival was first held in 1985 in Rio de Janeiro and during the last three decades, it has grown into an international event with editions held in Lisbon, Portugal; Madrid, Spain; and for the first time this year in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. September will mark the sixth edition of the festival in Rio.
A total of 85,000 tickets (maximum capacity) will be made available for each of the seven nights of the festival. Sales will be online only and will be open to the public starting from 10AM onwards.
Tickets for the 2013 edition in Rio de Janeiro sold out within four hours of going on sale.
According to Rock in Rio organizers, the combined editions of the festival have attracted more than 7.5 million attendees. During the 2013 edition held in Rio de Janeiro, approximately 46 percent of attendees were tourists, bringing an estimated R$1 billion to the city’s economy, according to the Secretaria Municipal de Turismo, known as Riotur.
