The James Bond character, created by writer Ian Fleming in 1953, has managed to keep a steady fan-base since the first film “Dr. No” released in 1962.

Skyfall kicks off with Bond in a state of crisis after a failed mission in Istanbul. The identities of every active undercover MI6 agent are leaked, leaving them vulnerable to Bond’s latest villain played by Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men).

Over the years, there has been much debate about who embodied the Bond character best. Pierce Brosnan was one of the most successful at the Box Office as the movie Goldeneye in 1995 brought in its highest ever takings.

Brosnan broke the Box Office record again in 2002 when the film Die Another Day grossed $431,971,116. However, Daniel Craig topped Brosnan’s record when the film Casino Royale made $594,239,066 at the Box Office.

James Bond’s closest relationship with the Cidade Maravilhosa came in the 1979 James Bond film, “Moonraker”, where he was battling the monstrous character Jaws on the gondola to Pão de Açucar (Sugarloaf).
