The Brazilian Federal Police (PF) arrested Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, former aide to orders of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), on Wednesday, 3, during Operation Venire.
The investigation occurs within the scope of the digital militias inquiry, led by Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court.
The PF investigates a group suspected of entering “false vaccination data” against Covid-19 in the Ministry of Health’s system.
Agents serve 16 search and seizure warrants (one at Bolsonaro‘s home in the federal capital), plus six preventive arrest warrants, in Brasília and Rio de Janeiro.
THE OPERATION THAT ARRESTED MAURO CID, BOLSONARO’S FORMER AIDE
The alleged inclusion of false data would have occurred between November 2021 and December last year.
According to the Federal Police, the beneficiaries were able to issue vaccination certificates to circumvent health restrictions imposed by the governments of Brazil and the United States.
The Federal Police maintains that the “objective of the group is to maintain a cohesive identity element concerning its ideological agendas” and “sustain the discourse aimed at attacks on the vaccination against Covid-19.”
