According to government data, the ICU beds’ occupation rate yesterday stood at 86.9 percent, while on Monday it had been 88 percent, and 90 percent on Thursday, April 30th, before the holiday. According to Germann, new beds were placed in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. “That is why this occupancy rate has decreased a little,” he said.

The coordinator of the Coronavirus Contingency Center in São Paulo, David Uip, said that the isolation rate as measured on Monday stood at 48 percent for the metropolitan region of São Paulo and 47 percent for the state.

“It is not possible to work with this number,” said Uip during a press conference at the Bandeirantes Palace. “The minimum of 50 percent is consistently not being reached,” he said.
