São Paulo Governor Doria Signs Law Requiring Radar Location Disclosure

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – São Paulo Governor João Doria has enacted a law requiring the state authorities to disclose the location and operating times of all speed control radars installed on state highways. The decision was published on Friday, October 23rd, in the São Paulo Official Gazette.

The speed limit of each of the radars will also need to be specified. The rules apply to all types of radars: fixed, mobile, static or portable.

According to the law, the information must be disclosed on the state government’s institutional website. The deadline for implementing and enforcing the new rules is 90 days.

The bill was drafted by state legislator Ricardo Madalena and has been pending in the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (ALESP) since 2016.
