Rappi Brazil Will Provide Non-Food Product Delivery within One Hour

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Rappi is preparing a new feature that operates as a virtual shopping mall. Users can receive their orders in up to one hour. The service will be released this week for products of companies from several business segments.

Called Rappi Mall, the service will feature over 50 brands such as Fast Shop, Saraiva, Decathlon and L’Occitane. The concept, according to the general director of Rappi in Brazil, Eduardo Sodero, is to reach 1,000 partners in 2020.

In its first stage, the option will be available only in São Paulo, but in the future it will reach the 60 Brazilian cities where the startup operates. And, as with food orders, the company will have to ensure syncronization between stores and the 200,000 deliverery personnel.

The startup will follow a model similar to that of food delivery and will charge a commission from the stores. The company collects approximately 25 percent of the amount ordered by users in restaurants, but has not disclosed how much it will charge in its new section.

Users will see a slightly different experience in the App’s virtual mall. If Rappi usually highlights restaurants for those wishing to order food, the focus of the new service will be on products, rather than stores.

The company expects the new feature to meet both companies and consumers. While creating new opportunities for the dozens of partner stores, Rappi Mall may attract customers who do not buy on the Internet due to the long delivery time.
