Motorcyclist Killed in Assault on São Paulo Highway

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – Cícero da Silva, 46 years old, was killed with two shots to the face, during a robbery that took place around 3.30 pm, this Sunday, December 8th, at Km 11 of the Imigrantes highway, in the Jabaquara region, in the southern zone of São Paulo. Until the publication of this report, no suspect had been arrested.

According to the police, the motorcyclist followed the highway with his wife in the rear seat, when he was approached by two criminals, also on a motorcycle, who forced the victim to stop on the side of the track.

At this time, the victims descended from their Suzuki motorcycle, which was occupied by one of the thieves. Before fleeing with the motorcycle of the victim, however, one of the criminals shot twice in Silva’s face.

The motorcyclist was rescued by the firemen, who took him to the Saboya hospital in the south of São Paulo, but the motorcycle rider died.

The case was registered as latrocínio (robbery followed by death) by the 26º DP (Sacomã), but will be investigated by the 97º DP (Americanópolis).

According to the SSP (Secretary of Public Security), 49 people were killed in latrocinios in the São Paulo capital between January and October of this year.

Over the same period, 158 cases were reported in the state of São Paulo.
