Torrential Rain Invades Terminal 3 of Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – The area of Terminal 3 of the São Paulo International Airport (GRU), in Guarulhos, Greater São Paulo, was invaded by a ‘waterfall’ caused by the rain that hit the city on Thursday, January 2nd. According to GRU Airport’s press office, the damage caused was repaired.

“GRU Airport advises that the area of Terminal 3 of the International Airport of São Paulo, in Guarulhos, has already been repaired. The heavy rains over São Paulo, yesterday afternoon [January 2nd], caused an overflow of the drainage system of the roof. The concessionaire’s technical team has already re-evaluated the structure in order to avoid new incidents at the site. GRU Airport points out that the flow of passengers to and from the terminals was not impacted and that the operation of landings and take-offs occurs normally”.

In addition to the airport, heavy rain yesterday afternoon caused damage in other parts of the city. The State capital’s fire department received 22 calls for landslides, 81 calls for floods, and 21 calls for tree falls.
