Seven Corinthians’ Players May Still Leave Soccer Squad

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – At least seven of Corinthians’ players in the current squad may still be negotiated before the start of the 2020 soccer competitions. In addition to midfielder Ralf and midfielder Jadson, who have already been dismissed by manager Tiago Nunes, the club seeks to profit from athletes who did not do well last season.

Defender Marllon, left-back Carlos Augusto, midfielder Richard, and strikers Andre Luis and Everaldo are not guaranteed a place in the Campeonato Paulista. The board is trying to negotiate them to reduce the squad’s payroll – the forecast is to cut R$60 (US$15) million).

Among these players, proposals on Ralf and André Luis are being analyzed by the board. The defensive midfielder can be loaned to Cruzeiro. But for that Corinthians would have to help pay part of the player’s salary. The player may also return to Beijing Guoan, China, where he played between 2016 and 2017.

Andre Luis was offered a loan from Daejeon Hana Citizen, a club in the Korea Republic’s second division. The trend is that the striker will not travel with the rest of the squad on Sunday to the United States, where the team will compete in the Florida Cup.

Of the squad that ended last season, defender Manoel, returned to Cruzeiro, Junior Bear, sold to Orlando City, and striker Clayson, negotiated with Bahia, are no longer in the team. In return, three reinforcements have arrived: striker Luan, midfielder Victor Cantillo, and left-back Sidcley.
