Flamengo Announces Signing of Striker Michael, ex-Goias: “a Born Player”

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Michael is officially a Flamengo player. The club announced on Monday the signing of the striker, elected ‘the revelation’ of the last Brazilian Championship. The athlete signed a contract until 2024 with the “red-and-black” and will be introduced on Tuesday, January 21st.

To have Michael, Flamengo will pay EUR7.5 million (R$34.5 million) to Goiás for 80 percent of the player’s economic rights. The amount will be divided into three installments, to be paid in February 2020, July 2020 and January 2021.

“If we dream, if we want and if we work, we will win. If we sow good things, we will reap good things. So, we’re together, and if it’s up to me there will only be progress,” Michael said in an interview for the “FlaTV”.

Michael is the third reinforcement announced by Flamengo for the main team. Previously the club had already confirmed striker Pedro Rocha and defender Gustavo Henrique. Midfielder Thiago Maia and striker Pedro are being examined before the announcement. The club is also close to getting Gabigol’s permanence rights.

Michael landed in Rio de Janeiro a week ago. On Tuesday, he underwent medical examinations. On Saturday, he was at Maracanã to follow the 0-0 draw with Macaé in the opening of the Carioca Championship.
