Brazil Wins Ten Medals in One Day at World Military Games

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On the second-to-last day of World Military Games competitions in Wuhan, China, Brazil won one gold, five silver, and four bronze medals.

On Saturday, October 26th, Bruno Schmidt and Evandro climbed the podium after beating the German duo in the final by 2 sets to 0 in beach volleyball.

Among the women, the pair formed by Taiana Lima and Talita also competed in the final but was defeated by the Chinese Wang Fan and Xia Xinyi by 2 sets to 1 and won silver.

In women’s basketball, the Brazilian team was defeated by China 93-65 in the final and won the silver medal.

In boxing, another silver medal was won by Herbert Souza in the 69-75 Kg category. The Brazilian was defeated by Russian Semykin Aleksei in the final.

Another silver of the day went to the Naval Pentathlon, in the Track with Obstacles, with the athletes Max Santos, Felício Carriço, and Tiago Lincoln.

Diving guaranteed two medals for Brazil this Saturday. The silver for the women’s team with Giovanna Pedroso, Tammy Galera, Luana Lira, and Juliana Veloso and the bronze for Tammy Galera and Giovanna Pedroso in the synchronized platform for women.

Gymnastics brought two more bronze medals to Brazil. In the horizontal bar, Chico Barreto scored 14,033 points and got third place. The Brazilian Lucas Bitencourt was fourth with 13,733. On the parallel bars, Caio Souza won bronze with 14,500 points.

The other bronze medal was won by the women’s soccer team, which beat South Korea 3-1 in the match for the third position.

China is the overall leader of the Military World Games medal board with 130 gold, 63 silver, and 37 bronze medals. Russia is in second place with 49 gold, 51 silver, and 57 bronze medals. Brazil is third with 20 gold, 29 silver, and 33 bronze medals.
