Covid-19: Brazil’s Guarulhos mayoralty suspends unvaccinated staff

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The text cites as its basis a September 2021 municipal ordinance requiring all direct and indirect public administration employees to be immunized against the novel coronavirus.

The ordinance, published in the Municipal Gazette last Friday, October 22, contained the names of employees and councilors with suspended work contracts.

However, in a statement released yesterday, October 25, the Administrative Staff Directorate informed that the list was outdated, due to a mistake by the City Hall’s medical service.

According to the statement, all city councilors are now immunized against Covid-19. The updated list with the employees who have not yet taken the vaccine is expected to be published on Tuesday, October 26, in the Municipal Gazette.
