Accor chain reopens hotels in Chile, Uruguay and Argentina

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In light of the reactivation of tourism, the Accor hotel chain announced the reopening of a number of hotels in Chile, Argentina and Uruguay, with the goal of promoting the recovery of travel in South America.

Some 46% of global consumers feel more comfortable traveling this year than in 2020, evidenced by the gradual recovery of business travel and domestic tourism. In fact, Accor has reported that in recent months hotel reservations have increased in Brazil and in Spanish-speaking countries.

In Chile, the tourism industry is projecting some 2 million trips for the Fiestas Patrias, with 60% of bookings within the country. In this context, Accor has announced the reopening of Novotel in Viña del Mar, Ibis in Puerto Montt and Ibis Budget in Iquique. As of September 1, Ibis Valparaíso will also reopen.

At the continental level, Mercure Montevideo (Uruguay) and Ibis Buenos Aires Congreso (Argentina) will restart their operations, complementing the lodging services offered by Novotel Buenos Aires and Sofitel Recoleta.

“In all countries the health situation is evolving positively, although we know that it is still delicate. We are witnessing a growing number of clients returning to our hotels for leisure or business reasons,” explained Accor’s COO for Hispanic countries Franck Pruvost.

As part of the Travel Sale 2021, the hotel group is offering a 3×2 hotel promotion, that is, 3 nights for the price of 2 in midscale and economy hotels in Spanish-speaking countries in the region. In addition, members of the ALL Accor Limitless loyalty program will benefit from an additional 10% discount on bookings made until Sunday, August 29, for stays through December 31, 2021.
