Wednesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – On the eve of both Dia dos Namorados (Brazilian Valentine’s Day) and the opening day of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, it’s time to celebrate in Rio. Tonight at Centro’s La Paz club, the Festa Ninfadelica and Brazilian Wax party return with nine DJs taking over two stages, filling the venue with the sounds of funk, soul, nu-soul, hip hop, retrobeat, glitch, ghetto and bass.
DJs Daniel Juca, Trusty, and Andrei Y , member of the Manie Gang DJ Crew, will spin on the Ninfadelica stage while DJs Gustavo MM, Gustavo Tata, KLAK Sounds with Carrot Green and Guigo Freire, and Pedro Piu will throw down as part of the Brazilian Wax party.

ExperienceBrazil’s rich musical history at Casarão Ameno Resedá in Catete tonight. Throughout the month of June on Wednesday and Sunday nights, the venue will hold Ginga Tropical theater events featuring the best of Brazilian rhythms and dancing. A tribute to Brazilian legend Carmen Miranda kicks things off followed by cabaret and an homage to famous Brazilian televison presenter Osvaldo Sargentelli. The show will continue with samba, dancing Orixás, lambada, forró, maracatu, pagode, bossa nova, funk and frevo, almost everything one needs to get a true feel for the rhythms and musical culture of Brazil in one night.
