Banda do Mar Night 2Sunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Banda do Mar returns to Circo Voador in Lapa tonight after performing a sold-out show on Saturday, October 11th.

Consisting of Brazilians Marcelo Camelo and Mallu Magalhães and Portuguese drummer Fred Ferreira, Banda do Mar is a Brazilian/Portuguese indie super group.

Ferreira made a name for himself on the scene through his impressive drumming, while Magalhães is well known for her solo work as a vocalist and Camelo built a solid fan base through his contributions to pop and rock with the Brazilian band Los Hermanos.

Together the trio began to generate buzz earlier this year with the release of two songs, “Hey Nana” and “Mais Ninguem,” before the official release of their self-titled debut album on September 2nd.

For those interested in some of the freshest new music in Brazil, tonight’s show is not to be missed.
