Sunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Rogê is back at Carioca da Gema for his weekly show of samba-rock. His steady performances have earned the respect of music lovers and critics alike in Rio, a mixture of classic Brazilian music fused with upbeat rock.

First a technical student of music, Rogê then learned to play guitar, and increasingly felt driven by the sounds, rhythms and lyrics of Brazilian music. The singer has worked and performed with some of Brazil’s finest, such as João Bosco, Arlindo Cruz, Marcelo Falcão and Marcelo D2, and though his samba sound sets the tone, he freely displays his influences from swing and reggae to rock.
