nfSunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – This afternoon the 2014 edition of the experimental music festival Novas Frequências will continue at Casa Daros in Botafogo, with a panel discussion about artistic experimentation and political culture followed by more live performances.

Participating in the discussion will be co-creator of Novas Frequências, Tathiana Lopes; Bernando Oliveira of Quintavant Qtv, Rodrigo S. and Pedro Fontes of Wobble, Fred Finelli of Submarine Recs Norópolis; Akin Deckard of Metanol FM; Luciano Valério of DESMONTA; and Marcos Boffa of Festival Eletronika. Novas Frequências co-creator Chico Dub will mediate the discussion.

For the shows, Auto, Hojer Yama, and Osvardo will perform live beginning at 3:30PM.

Frisk Frugt (Ipanema)
Berlin and Copenhagen based musican Frisk Frugt will perfom live at Oi Futuro Ipanema tonight as part of the ongoing 2014 edition of the experimental music festival Novas Frequências. Born Anders Lauge Meldgaard and using the stage name Frisk Frugt, he has worked for over a decade with experimental music as part experimental music collective yoyooyoy and as a solo artist.

Duo (Gávea)
End your weekend with house and electro pop at Duo in Gávea’s 00 (Zero Zero). The party begins at 5PM and continues in the chic indoor/outdoor venue until 5AM. Things usually get started on the outdoor deck with DJs Fabiano Pax and Marcia Bertonni and then gradually shifts inside where DJs Mor Rafael Calvente and Dri Toscano usually spin. The weekly event is also known to host special guest DJs.

It’s time to dance as singer-songwriter Rogê returns for his weekly show at Lapa’s Carioca de Gema. The lively up-and-coming performer will present his own compositions as well as covers of works by Jorge, Djavan, and Jorge Benjor, among others.

Roda de Samba and Soccer (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 4PM the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Samba Di Buteco playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. DJ Mukato will also spinning during the night.
