misfits 2 photo by Mick RockSunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – American punk rock legends and pioneers of the “horror punk” subgenre, the Misfits return to Rio tonight to play Lapa’s Circo Voador.

The current line-up of Jerry Only on bass and vocals, Eric “Chupacabra” Arce on drums, and Dez Cadena on guitar, is making a stop in Rio during an ongoing South American tour in support of their 2011 release entitled, The Devil’s Rain.

The band, which has undergo several line-up changes during its almost four decade history, has released a total eight studio albums, numerous live albums and singles. Additionally they have inspired the formation of countless tribute bands and influenced many other punk and rock performers.

They are considered one of the most important bands in punk history and their well known songs include; “Mommy Can I Go Out And Kill Tonight?”, “Halloween”, “Dig Up Her Bones” and “Die, Die My Darling.”
