Saturday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight Cais da Imperatriz and the DOOM party present very special guest, DJ Jazzy Jeff.
Well known for his work with actor and rapper Will Smith, aka The Fresh Prince, in the late 1980s and 1990s, DJ Jazzy Jeff has been spinning for over thirty years.
He has released multiple recordings both as a solo artist and as part of the DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince duo. In addition to Will Smith, Jeff has worked with artists including CL Smooth, Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul, Method Man, and Mac Miller, among others.
During the night, DJs Donie Jay, Bertoletti, and Bevilaqua also will spin.

It’s time again for beer battles and dueling iPods as the Battles party returns tonight to Copacabana’s Fosfobox. As always there will be games; “Battle Beer” and “Battle Shots” (similar to the game Battleship, but with beer). At 7:30PM, singer Simone Lial will again get things started with jazz and Brazilian rhythms at Rio Scenarium. Then at 11PM the group Toca na Surdina will perform their unique blend of pop and samba. Finally beginning at 2:30 AM, the group Trio Rapacuia will play some of the best forró you can hear any in the city tonight. Their show will include thier reinterpreatations of works by Luiz Gonzaga, Jackson do Pandeiro, João do Vale, Dominguinhos, Gilberto Gil, Chico Buarque, Geraldo Azevedo and Zé Ramalho, among others.
