LIVE:
Cine Jazz @ Blue Note Rio (Lagoa) – Cine Jazz returns to Blue Note Rio, this time for a tribute to Billy Blanco, with none other than Billy Blanco Jr.

With a list of friends such as Baden Powell, Tom Jobim, and João Gilberto, Billy Blanco is one of the most celebrated Brazilian musicians of the 20th century, and tonight his son comes to pay tribute to his late father.

There will also be a presentation of the 2011 film “Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro” (Symphony of Rio de Janeiro).

The night starts at 9PM and tickets are between R$35-R$70.

DRINKS:
Jungle FREE @ Jungle Garden Pub (Botafogo) – The ‘most charming jungle in Rio’ is offering a night of almost endless happy hours and deals.

First off, it’s free admission. There’s also twenty percent discount on Ceviche and a glass of house wine or sparkling Rio Sol is only R$17,90. The drink of the night is only R$19,90 and there’s a bucket of beer for only R$37,90.

All the while, DJ Dudv will be keeping the place pumping throughout the night.

Chorando Jazz @ Casa do Choro (Centro) – This edition of Chorando Jazz will feature Jeff Gardner on piano, and Pedro Franco on mandolin and seven-string guitar.

Pianist and composer Jeff Gardner was born in New York and has been in Brazil since 1980. He has toured Europe, Japan, Africa and Latin America with his own group and alongside international jazz greats such as Freddie Hubbard, Steve Lacy, Eddie Harris, Norma Winstone, Lisa Ono, to name a few.

In Brazil, Gardner has performed and recorded with such artists as Hermeto Pascoal, Victor Assis Brasil, Toninho Horta, Paulo Moura, Dori Caymmi, Carlos Balla, Alberto Continentino, Rafael Barata, Marcelo Martins and Gilberto Gil, among others.

In his authorial chorinhos, Jeff mixes the advanced harmony of modern jazz with the contagious rhythm of choro: Chorando Jazz!

In this show, Jeff invites young virtuoso Pedrinho Franco on seven-string guitar and mandolin. Pedro, who is part of the band for Maria Bethânia, has recorded several CDs and has already shared the stage with Yamandu Costa, Choro Rasgado, Deo Rian, Daniel Brito and other renowned artists.

Tickets are between R$20-R$40 and the night will get going at 7PM.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave in Ipanema is a great place for Mexican food, strong drinks and watching the FIFA 2018 World Cup action. They have English-speaking staff and is a popular expat hangout in Ipanema. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.

Flashback (Ipanema)
Flashback is a high-end restaurant with plenty of classical music and photos decorating the walls. Tonight, between 7PM and 9PM the restaurant will serve a happy hour with two for one on caipivodkas and Stella Artois. The caipivodkas are made fresh with either lime, strawberry or passionfruit as well as additional herbs added in for a taste explosion.
