The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs, Parties

We have the top three picks for this Wednesday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

LIVE:
GoGo Penguin @ Blue Note Rio (Lagoa) – Coming from Manchester, GoGo Penguin’s acoustic-electronic trio consists of pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka and drummer Rob Turner, and debuts at Blue Note Rio in the Jazz and Bossa Sessions series.

They take inspiration from the grey streets of the city where they were born and from a heady mix of influences ranging from Brian Eno, John Cage, Massive Attack to Aphex Twin, create a sound that is entirely theirs. Defined by break-beats, powerful sub-bass and telepathic interactions, the inventive trio have quickly become one of the most exciting bands that has emerged from the UK in years.

Tickets are available from R$70 and the night gets going at 8PM.
