The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs, Parties

We have the top three picks for this Wednesday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
Karaokê Indie Summer @ Casa da Matriz (Botafogo) – This Wednesday is a special ‘Summer’ edition of Indie Karaoke in the middle of Rio’s summer season, with several attractions, including karaoke and plenty of summer hits courtesy of Casa da Matriz’s super DJs.

To give that true beachside feeling, there will be 200 packages of Globo biscuits distributed for free! Plus, two-for-one on mate and rum all night long. Partygoers are encouraged to come in shorts, flip flops and other beachwear for the authentic Carioca summer experience.

Tickets are between R$20 – R$30 and the night gets going at 10PM.

Karaokê Indie Bubbles – Rua Henrique de Novaes 107 – Botafogo

LIVE:
Jazz @ Bar do Nanam (Centro) – This is the place to be for an evening of live jazz at one of Rio’s liveliest nightspots.

The hosts for the night will be drummer Guga Pellicciotti and DJ Rodrigo Cavalcanti, who will be both playing music themselves and inviting various musicians and DJs to participate in a wonderfully diverse and vibrant evening of music, dance and fun.

This night should begin at around 8PM and entry is free. Bar do Nanam politely asks that revellers purchase their drinks from the bar and also contribute to the musicians’ hat when it is passed around from time to time.

Jazz – Beco das Artes – Centro

PARTY:
Latin Party @ Pub Kriok (Lapa) – The original party that brought reggaeton to Rio is always a sure bet to kick some energy and attitude into the midweek.

The night has an open bar of beer and caipirinha until midnight. What more could a party need? Two-for-one on caipirinha and catuaba until 1AM? How about some drinking games, random shots, and dance-offs? DJ Slim and DJ Muchacho Malo plus VJ Rafael C are going to be taking over two floors of Pub Kriok and pumping out some of the finest reggaeton, funk and pop all through the night.

On the first floor will be reggaeton, latin pop, world music, hiphop, pop and much more. On the second floor will be merengue, trance, salsa, funk and a whole lot more Miami-style rhythms. After midnight there is a two-for-one offer on caipirinha and catuaba. There will be great photographers capturing the magic, LED light shows, excellent air-conditioning over three floors. This is a night that will go on for a long time (eight years running so far).

The night starts at 11PM and is free until midnight if you put your name on the event wall, otherwise entry is R$20 all night.
