LIVE:
Folakemi Trio @ NOSSO (Ipanema) – The multi-talented British singer Folakemi will lead the Folakemi Trio through a repertoire of soul, jazz, and blues classics from Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, and Nat King Cole at one of Ipanema’s most chic bars.

The trio, which includes guitarist Marco Bombom and percussionist Gabriel Marinho, have played several music festivals around the country, including Festival Latinidades and Ibitipoca Blues. They have also shared the stage and recorded with renowned artists like Tony Allen (Fela Kuti), Zezé Motta, and Walmir Borges.

This intimate show starts at 7:30 pm and the entry is free.

PARTY:
Latin Party @ Pub Kriok (Lapa) – Lapa’s most popular party is perfect for anyone looking to kick some Latin energy and attitude into their midweek.

The night has an open bar of beer and caipirinha until midnight. After that, there’s two-for-one on caipirinha and catuaba until 1 am. Throughout the night, expect drinking games, shots, and dance-offs. And for the soundtrack, DJ Slim and DJ Muchacho Malo will be pumping out some of the finest reggaeton, funk, and pop until the early hours.

The party starts at 11 pm and is free until midnight if you put your name on the event wall, otherwise entry is R$20 all night.

LIVE:
Paulo César Pinheiro 70 anos @ Casa do Choro (Centro) – The celebrated Brazilian poet and composer Paulo César Pinheiro turns seventy on April 28th, and Casa do Choro in Rio will be putting on three weeks of special shows and events in his honor.

Each Wednesday and Thursday, a guest singer will pay tribute to Pinheiro’s work with a specific creative partner. This week, Gabriel Cavalcante, one of the best new samba singers, will be interpreting songs Pinheiro wrote with João Nogueira. This is the perfect evening for anyone who loves traditional Brazilian music.

The concert begins at 7 pm and tickets cost between R$40 – R$80.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave in Ipanema is a great place for Mexican food, strong drinks, and watching the latest domestic and international sports. The fact that they have an English-speaking staff makes it a popular expat hangout in Ipanema. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.

Flashback (Ipanema)
Flashback is a high-end restaurant with plenty of classical music and photos decorating the walls. Tonight, between 7 PM and 9 PM, the restaurant will offer a happy hour with two-for-one on caipivodkas and Stella Artois. The caipivodkas are made fresh with lime, strawberry, or passionfruit as well as additional herbs for extra taste.
