We have the top three picks for this Tuesday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
DJ Daniel Juca @ Caverna (Botafogo) – This Tuesday will see DJ Daniel Juca behind the decks playing a set full of blues, swing jazz, rock from the fifties to the nineties, plus plenty of ska and punk rock.

To get the party started, mojitos will be on offer for R$18 and rum and cokes for R$16 from 6PM to 9PM.

Daniel Juca is a cartoonist, collector of vinyl and DJ specializing in vintage music, from jazz swing to reggae, to soul, grooves, Brazilian and Latin music.

He started playing in 2004 and, since 2006, has been a member of the Bangarang Sound System collective, playing in the main Rio clubs such as Ganjah Lapa, Bola Preta, MAM and Circo Voador.

The music will start at 7PM and is free!

PARTY:
Slam das Minas RJ: Final 2018 @ Museu de Arte do Rio (Centro) – It is the end of the 2018 season of ‘Slam das Minas,’ Rio’s all-inclusive female and LGBTQ+ poetry slam.

The final will be held this Tuesday at the Museu de Arte do Rio (also known as MAR).

Those poets battling for the title are: Doralyce, Bia Ferreira, Nefetaris Vandal, and Abronca.

The organizers are accepting donations for the prize winners. They are also raising money for various worthy causes.

Slam das Minas is a playful poetic battle organized by Carol Dall Farra, Débora Ambrosia, Genesis, Letícia Brito, Lian Tai, Rejane Barcellos and DJ Bieta.

The event should start at 6PM and is free!

PARTY:
Zouk Em Cena @ Espaço Dois em Cena (Lapa) – This Thursday, Espaço Dois em Cena will become the place to be for zouk!

Luiz La and Tathi Carvalho will lead this night of dancing.

Of course there will be lots of zouk, plus double helpings of caipirinhas.

If you get your name on the event wall before 8PM, you don’t have to pay entry! Otherwise entry is R$10 up to 9PM (with your name on the event wall), and R$15 normal entry.

The night should get going at around 7:30PM.

Located just around the corner from Posto 9, Blue Agave in Ipanema is well known for great Mexican food, drinks, and for broadcasting live sports. Additionally, most of the wait staff and crowd speak English.

Dida Bar e Restaurante (Tijuca)
Specialized in Afro-Brazilian and African food, Bar da Dida is a great option for authentic, soulful food one cannot find in any corner. Make sure to try one of its finger food that have already participated in the “Comida di Boteco” contest.
