The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs, Parties

We have the top three picks for this Tuesday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

LIVE:
Xote do Teles (Centro) – Arco do Telos is one of the most historical nightlife areas in the city, and tonight there will be a performance by Cordel Negro. Cordel Negro are a band of musicians who are intent on creating a new sound, descended from the African rhythms and traditional melodies of Brazil’s past, but also brought right up to date.

This free event will trace the roots of Brazilian music with songs that journey through varying genres such as samba, choro, forró and carimbó. Things should get started at around 8PM. For those who want to learn a bit of forró dancing, there will be a class open at 7:30PM with the instructor João Gabriel Caldeira Pires from the group Forró New Roots.

The drinks offers for the night are a bucket of five Devassa Puro Malte for R$40, and Antártica and Brahma at R$10 per bottle.

Xote do Teles – Travessa do Comércio, Praça XV – Centro

PARTY:
Ghetto Boiler Run VI @ Hub RJ (Santo Cristo) – The collective Ghetto Run Crew’s mission is to disseminate the culture of the street, especially musical genres such as funk, rap and latin music, as well as the importance of the MC, the b-boy, b-girl, and graffiti artist.

Due to their admiration for the London party that travels around the world, ‘Boiler Room,’ they’ve decided to create their own ‘Boiler.’ Connected to UndergroundRun, this meeting has become a tool to encourage artists who are outside the homogeneous commercial mainstream to fill our ears with eclectic sounds and move our bodies in ways we didn’t previously imagine possible.

The Ghetto Boiler Run is an invitation to experience urban art at its core. Conceived and designed by André Kaja Man and Junior Cruz, the Big Bunker breathes music, dance, paint, and canvas, and especially connects people from all over Brazil, the world, and other worlds.

This is a free event and it begins at 8:30PM.

LIVE:
Criativação @ Centro Cultural Justiça Federal (Centro) – The show ‘Criativação’ (Creativity) is the result of the accumulated experience of the twenty-year career of the instrumentalist Fábio Neves.

It is an unprecedented spectacle where the musician will present a repertoire composed of his own compositions and interpretation of other Brazilian composers, using as musical instruments not only the guitar and the viola caipira, but also percussion instruments and electronic resources (such as loop pedals and sequencers).

The musician’s proposal is to be able to push his own limits of artistic performance and expression. Criativação symbolizes this new phase of the artist, in an engaging performance that will feature the special participation of Dhenni Santos.

Tickets are between R$10-R$20 and the evening begins at 7:30PM.

Criativação – Avenida Rio Branco, 241 – Centro
