The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs

We have the top three picks for this Tuesday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
Pirate Crawl (Ipanema) – Not one for the faint-hearted, this Pirate Crawl will be going on a whirlwind tour of many of Ipanema’s liveliest drinking spots.

Things will be kicking off at 9PM at the Mango Tree Hostel, then at 10PM the pirates will be heading to one of Ipanema’s best bars, The Blue Agave, before moving on to a street party.

The pirates will then end the night at Festa Bem Brasil at Barzin Ipanema, another great destination for late-night drinks and music, where there will be 2 for 1 Caipirinhas until 1AM.

Phew! If that wasn’t enough, participants will also learn how to make Caipirinhas, drink free Caipirinhas, have some free shots and even spin the roulette drink wheel.

MÚSICA BRASILEIRA:
Xote do Teles (Centro) – Arco do Telos is one of the most historical nightlife areas in the city, and tonight there will be a performance by Cordel Negro.

Cordel Negro are a band of musicians who are intent on creating a new sound, descended from the African rhythms and traditional melodies of Brazil’s past, but also brought right up to date.

This free event will trace the roots of Brazilian music with songs that journey through varying genres such as samba, choro, forró and carimbó.

There will also be much dancing of forró, with an emphasis on the influences of the main black icons of the genre, such as Dominguinhos, Jacson do Pandeiro, Trio Nordestino, João do Vale, Luiz Gonzaga.

The free performance will take place in front of the Arco do Telos, with a dance floor and a convivial atmosphere to enjoy the evening in the open, right in the historical center of the city. Things should get started at around 8PM.

Xote do Teles – Travessa do Comércio, Praça XV – Centro

DRINKS:
Foxton at Jobi(Leblon) – Hip, high-class Brazilian clothing brand Foxton are hosting an evening of jazz and beer at legendary Leblon boteco and meeting-point, Jobi.

Things get underway early at 5PM, but this is worth being punctual for as the first 100 chopps (beers) are on Foxton’s tab!

If that wasn’t enough, there will also be an acoustic performance from the Ogro Jazz Band, who will be accompanying the drinking and socialising with some jazzy classics.

What more could you want on a Tuesday evening than to meet people, listen to jazz and drink free beer at one of Rio’s coziest joints?
