Rio Nightlife Guide for Tuesday, June 26, 2018

The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs

We have the top three picks for this Tuesday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

JAZZ:
Jazz das Terças (Lapa) – Enjoy a young group playing jazz, MPB and samba in contemporary arrangements, journeying through a sacred repertoire of Brazilian popular culture.

Quartetinho is a clarinet, saxophone, bass guitar, drums and guitar playing from Villa-Lobos to Hermeto Pascoal, including giant names like Cielo, Chico Buarque, Gonzaga, Ary Barroso, Cartola and more.

This is a great group of young jazz musicians, all people in their twenties graduating from the Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, showing that maturity and joviality in sound can and should go together.

Jazz das Terças – Avenida Gomes Freire, 579 – Lapa

What’s more, it’s free! For more information, check the event page.

MÚSICA BRASILEIRA:
Tradição Improvisada @ Audio Rebel (Botafogo) – Two great talents from different artistic journeys add strength and traditions to a unique show. Nelson da Rabeca and Thomas Rohrer present the release of the album ‘Tradição Improvisada’ (Improvised Tradition).

Thomas Rohrer is a Swiss musician based in Brazil, specializing in free improvisation, but accompanying popular artists such as Juçara Marçal and Marcelo Camelo, among others. Nelson da Rabeca is a celebrated musician, prominent in the popular songbook.

On the album where they joined forces, they express encounters, loves and friendships between generations of musicians and friends, forming a link between popular culture and free improvisation, in a great sound celebration.

In Rio, they will perform alongside Panda Gianfratti (percussion) and Dona Benedita (singer). The show brings a vast and unpublished repertoire based on genres typical of the northeast, such as xote, baião and forró. A beautiful dancing night to mark the release of the album.

Tickets are R$25-R$30 and the show starts at 8:30PM.

Tradição Improvisada – Visconde de Silva, 55 – Botafogo

Watch out for the special friends’ list for registered customers at Barzin which will get you in for R$20 if you’re a woman and R$30 if you’re a man.
