We have the top three picks for this Thursday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
Karaokê Indie @ Casa da Matriz (Botafogo) – Trick or Treat? This November gets kicked off in true Halloween style at Casa da Matriz where witches, superheroes, vampires, magicians, and all manner of heroes and villains are welcome.

On the first dancefloor there will be ‘Indie Karaoke’ with a super stage, eight hours of singing and a selection of more than 8,000 songs, including The Killers, Backstreet Boys, Arctic Monkeys, Lana Del Rey, Muse, Miley Cyrus, The Strokes, Paramore, The Smiths, The Cure, Oasis, and Blur, among others.

On the second dancefloor will be a ‘Trick-or-Treat Party’ which will feature Djs Iggor Ahrends (PMS), Pilar Garcez (Trick-or-Treat) and Lais Moss (MOB) playing the best pop, rock, goth and funk. And to quench your thirst, two-for-one on bloody marys with dry ice all night long! Plus two-for-ones on caipirinhas, and gin and tonics, until 1AM.

Tickets are between R$10-R$35 and the night gets going at 10PM.

LIVE:
Forró @ Praia Vermelha (Urca) – Get ready for some super live forró (traditional, upbeat Brazilian music) on one of the most beautiful beaches in Rio, Praia Vermelha.

Accompanying the music will be plenty of delicious Brazilian street food, craft beer on tap, fashion stalls and art for sale. What better way to spend the evening of the upcoming holidays than seeing the sunset and dancing to some great live music?

This free event begins at 6PM.

PARTY:
Baile do Saddam @ Fosfobox (Copacabana) – One of the most democratic and inclusive club nights in the South Zone of Rio arrives for its 22nd edition, on a holiday eve, so that no one has to go to work hungover.

As always, it’s going to be DJs dropping the best hip-hop, funk, pop, and other hits. With the main Fosfobox dancefloor taken over by: Sao Gonca, Saddam, Tamenpi, Zeh Pretim, and Zedoroque. While the Fosfobar dancefloor hosts Sarah Ferreira, Suira, and Babi Gazal.

The night starts at 11PM, tickets are between R$10-R$30 and the first fifty people in the club get a Heineken!

Lapa Irish Pub (Lapa)
If you want to hear some great live music while drinking some quality imported beers in a welcoming environment with a friendly crowd, this the place to go.

Run by Uruguayan expat José Hodara, the bistro offers the best national and international labels, which can be accompanied by a selection of cheeses, sausages or a main dishes, like the majestic Uruguayan chorizo beef.

Winehouse (Botafogo)
Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Pub Escondido (Copacabana)
Those into the pub atmosphere will also love Pub Escondido, a discrete venue with premium beer labels, modern design and a really cool vibe. The pub offers 24 different beer taps, which includes the house’s draught beer, Escondido Weiss, made of wheat.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave Ipanema is a great place for good Mexican food, drinks and live sports. It also has English-speaking staff and is a popular expat hangout. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.
