We have the top three picks for this Thursday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
The Love Boat Party @ New Mariuzinn (Copacabana) – The Love Boat Party at Copacabana’s New Mariuzinn is one of the craziest parties in Rio and will surely prepare anyone for the weekend.

The preview party starts at 10PM at the club, where there is an open bar between 11PM and midnight, as well as free mini pizzas which will be served every hour to keep everyone well-fed.

The DJ tonight is Guga Fernandes, who will be spinning house, electronica, reggaeton, cumbia, carioca funk and hip hop.

Ticket prices start from R$80 for men and R$60 for women and include the transfer from the Copacabana venue to the Marina da Glória, where the boat party begins.

Arriving at Marina da Glória, a boat with capacity for 120 people will be turned into a floating nightclub where anything can happen! This is a party for the adventurous.

Thelonious Monk Tribute @ Blue Note Rio (Lagoa) – For those that enjoy the jazz stylings of Thelonious Monk, here is a special treat at the world famous Blue Note Rio jazz club tonight at 8PM.

There will be a special evening of musical tributes to this unique genius of jazz, featuring the renowned musicians Marcos Nimrichter on piano and special participation by Mauro Senise.

Marcos Nimrichter is a pianist, accordionist, composer, arranger, music producer, teacher and TV presenter. During his famous career, Marcos participated in concerts and albums by artists such as Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Hermeto Pascoal, Paulo Moura, Michel Legrand, Wynton Marsalis, Al Jarreau, Roberto Menescal, Elza Soares, Martinho da Vila, Cassia Eller and Maria Bethania.

Get there early to avoid disappointment as seating is allocated on a ‘first come, first serve’ policy.

PARTY:
Era Uma Vez Um Macaco Bêbado @ Macaco Caolho (Copacabana) – The monkey has been drunk for a year, and to celebrate their 365th day in business, Macaco Caolho are throwing a party with karaoke and special drinks promotions.

The Monkey invites you to sing your song with a lot of chopp beer, a new drink card and their dear Macacoke.

The night will be filled with music, as there will be karaoke with a live band all night long. It will also be night of drinking, with a welcome shot for all who attend, double choppes all night long and another free shot of tequila or jager for anyone brave enough to sing.

Keep a look out for prizes, discount cards (including some with twenty percent off for the whole year), and money off your night’s balance all on offer throughout the evening.

Winehouse (Botafogo)
Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those that aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 5PM and finishes at 8PM.

Pub Escondido (Copacabana)
Those into the pub atmosphere will also love Pub Escondido, a discrete venue with premium beer labels, modern design and a really cool vibe. The pub offers 24 different beer taps, which includes the house’s draught beer, Escondido Weiss, made of wheat.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)

Yndú Lounge (Leblon)
With chilled out vibes during the week and a selection of top DJs playing shows at the weekends, the newly-opened Yndú Lounge in Ipanema is a great option to kick back. With a selection of drinks and tapas, the bar is quickly becoming one of Leblon’s best watering holes.
