Sunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – The free event celebrating the very best of funk, Rio Parada Funk, returns for its fifth edition today and tonight from 10AM to 8PM.
Taking place simultaneously on two stages in Largo da Carioca and Praça Tiradentes, the event will feature approximately 150 artists selected by curators. Known as the “Conselheiros do Funk,” the curators include DJs and producers Marlboro, Grandmaster Raphael, Batutinha, Sanny Pitbul and others from the Eu Amo Baile Funk collective.
Performers on the Soul Bass Funk stage (Praça Tiradentes) will include MCs Bob Rum, Mascote, Junior, Leonardo, Deise Tigrona, Koringa, Lexa, Naldo Benny, Galo, Neném, Cacau, Geléia, Marcinho and DJs Grandmaster Raphael, MP4, Batutinha, and Sanny Pitbul.
Performers on the Parada Funk stage (Largo da Carioca) will include DJ Presuntinho, Os Havaianos, MCs Nego do Borel and Duduzinho, Neisinho, MCs William, Duda, Frank, and Ticão.

Jozef van Wissem (Botafogo)
Tonight Dutch composer and lutenist Jozef van Wissem will perform live at Audio Rebel in Botafogo. Wissem is well known for his collaborations with filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, including work on the 2013 award-winning soundtrack for “Only Lovers Left Alive.”

It’s time once again for the best of house, electro, and pop as the twelve-hour Duo party returns to Gávea’s chic 00 (Zero Zero) club. DJs will start the party around 5PM by spinning on the deck and more DJs will follow, spinning inside throughout the night until 5AM Monday morning.

Roda de Samba and Football with Ballet 2 Passistas (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 5PM, the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Ballet 2 playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. Additionally, DJ Mukato will spin during show intervals.
