Sul Ink. S.A. (Botafogo)

The latest from what is happening in Brazil’s independent music scene will gather tonight at House of Ink, in Botafogo, for the Sul Ink. S.A. party, at 4PM.

This edition is specially dedicated to the independent music scene from Porto Alegre (Brazil’s South), inviting the artists Gelpi, Good Samaritans, Viralataz and Paradise Sessions to present a minimalist set up for the audience.

DJs Savannah Sounds and Johnny 420 will also spin at the venue. What’s more, artists Aurim (Argentina) and Amanda Lemos (Rio de Janeiro) will be tattooing from R$150.

MÚSICA BRASILEIRA:
Ensaio Tambores de Olokun (Aterro do Flamengo)

One of the most hyped carnival blocs among Carioca youngsters, Tambores do Olokun starts to warm up for Carnival 2018, and the next rehearsal happens this Sunday at Aterro do Flamengo.

Starting at 4PM, the bloc brings a repertoire dedicated to Afro Brazilian rhythms, specially Maracatu, from Pernambuco (Brazil’s Northeast).

You will get specially fascinated by Tambores de Olokun’s explosion of colors, movements and sounds.

MÚSICA BRASILEIRA:
Terreiro da Preta and Samba que Elas Querem (Centro)

If good samba music is all you want for this Sunday’s afternoon, the Terreiro da Preta party, in Santo Cristo (Centro) is definitely a great bet.

DJ Bieta opens the event at 4PM with a diverse set of international and Brazilian black music, followed by groups “Sobrinhos Favoritos” and “Banda Predileta”, who perform together at 5:30 PM.

Following, women only “roda de samba” Samba que Elas Querem kill it at 7PM and 9PM.

Sunday afternoon drinking while eating salgadinhos and watching the sunset at Bar Urca is a regular pastime in Rio de Janeiro. This simple establishment on the bayside has been a hit since 1939.
