Sunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Australian electronic music duo Empire of the Sun will perform live tonight at Fundição Progresso in Lapa.

Empire of the Sun was born from a collaboration between Luke Steele of rock band The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore of electronic group Pnau. The duo first received international recognition with their debut album, Walking on a Dream and it’s title track, and the single “We Are the People.”

In 2013, they released their follow-up album Ice on the Dune. Its singles included “Alive“, “DNA”, and “Celebrate.”

Fundição Progresso’s doors will open at 6:30 PM. The group Make U Sweat will perform to open the night beginning at 7PM and Empires of the Sun is scheduled to begin at 10:30 PM.

Festival Multiplicidade (Jardim Botânico)
The final weekend of the 2015 edition of Festival Multiplicidade will draw to a close today at Escola de Artes Visuais (EAV) in Parque Lage in Jardim Botânico. Cyril Hernandez will return to start the day with the “Mobila Som” installation. Then Gui Marmota will peform followed by Triboelétrica with Pedro Pagy. Additionally during the day, Brazilians Ricardo Garcia, André Thitcho, Felipe Vilasanchez, and Giu Nunez, Peruvian composer and pianist Daniel Valle-Riestra, and French DJ Aleqs Notal will perform. Additionally IN-SONE and Søren Kjaergaard will return to perform. Brazilian band Meia Banda will perform at 7PM and beginning at 8PM Brazilian band Camerata Monoaural will perform to close out the night and the festival.

Empire of the Sun (Lapa)

Tangolomango (Lapa)
Tonight Circo Voador in Lapa will present the 20th edition of Tangolomango, the International Festival of Cultural Diversity.Both foreign and local artists will perform as part of the event.

Sararás Livres(Botafogo)
Tonight the group Sararás Livres will perform live at Audio Rebel in Botafogo. Consisting of Daniel Wainer, Felipe Arêas, Juko Lessa and Pedro Fonte, Sararás Livres will perform the songs from their debut album for the first time tonight. Additionally, the group Vizinhos do Som with Bruno and Pedro Mibielli and Danilo Andrade, will perform to open the night.

Duo (Gávea)
It’s time once again for the best of house, electro, and pop as the twelve-hour Duo party returns to Gávea’s chic 00 (Zero Zero) club. DJs Julius Diniz and Sabrina Tomé will start the party around 5PM by spinning on the deck until midnight and DJs Miss Klauss and Leonardo Gattuso will spin inside beginning at 10PM continuing throughout the night until 5AM Monday morning.

Roda de Samba and Football with Ballet 2 Passistas (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 5PM the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Ballet 2 playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. Additionally, DJ Mukato will spin during show intervals.
