The Rio Times, Nightlife Guide, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Nightlife, Bars, Clubs

We have the top three picks for this Sunday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

MÚSICA BRASILEIRA:
Samba da Urca de Casa Nova (Urca) – This Sunday will see the rooftop of the Círculo Militar (Military Circle) opened up to a glorious evening of samba.

What a way to end the weekend! The producers of Samba da Urca have a track record of previous successful events such as Feijoada da Casa Rosa, Samba dos Guimarães, Samba da Lagoa, Samba da Lua Cheia.

This location in Urca is one of the most magical in all of Rio, overlooking Praia Vermelha (Red Beach) and Pão de Açucar (Sugarloaf Mountain), and with a soundtrack of samba music and the beautiful Rio sunset, this promises to be an enchanting evening.

Music will be provided by the Samba du Black group, and in the the intervals, DJ Cyro Novello will be keeping the party spirit going.

There will be two DJs, DJ Ale and DJ Alien Lopes who will be spinning funk, trap, hip-hop, house and brazilian music. And to get things going, passengers will also be greeted by a free Caipirinha when first boarding.

This is an early hours party, with a departure time of 3PM and a return time of 8PM.

MÚSICA BRASILEIRA:
Santa Junina Beer Fest and Forro in Santa Teresa (Santa Teresa) – Why not while away Sunday listening to sounds of Forro in the laid-back hilltop neighborhood of Santa Teresa?

It’s the Santa Junina Beer Fest in Santa Teresa, promising artesanal choppes (draft beer) burgers (including vegetarian options) plus sweets and treats such as churros (Brazilian donut-style snack) and tapioca.

As it’s a Sunday, the shows will start at around 5PM and finish at 8.30PM, while the music will be mostly acoustic, so as not to disturb this peaceful neighborhood.

However, you can still have a drink and a dance!
