gigantes da liraSunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight Circo Voador will host the 14th edition of the Baile Infantil dos Gigantes da Lira, a carnival ball for children.

Gigantes da Lira is a traditional Carnival bloco for children know for its year-round activities and Carnival ball, in addition to its yearly street parade.

During the event this evening, the Banda Gigantes, led by Maestro Edimar de Lima, will entertain revelers both young and old with drumming and live music. There will also be circus performers including acrobats, jugglers, aerial dancers, and clowns.

Tattoo Week 2016 (Centro)
The final day of the fourth edition of Tattoo Week Rio will take place at the Convenções SulAmérica today. The three day convention features fifty international and eight hundred and fifty national artists divided into two hundred and fifty stands.

O Mercado – Estilistas Independentes (Botafogo)
O Mercado returns today for its second day this edition. The fair is taking place at Solar das Palmeiras in Botafogo and features independent stylists, art and fashion vendors. Additionally there are food vendors offering sandwiches, pizza, candy, churros, craft beers and vegan food options. DJ Gustavo Ferrato and guests are spinning during the event.

Jazz no Morro (Cantagalo)
Tonight the weekly Jazz no Morro event returns to Gilda in Cantagalo with the group Superjazz performing the best of jazz live. Additionally during the night, DJs will spin the best of Brazilian music, pop, and classic rock during show intervals.

Tonight Sette Leblon will host the eleventh edition of the Sette Zouk party. During the night, NYX, Arkkanjo, Thiagão, and Paloma will deliver the best of Zouk upstaris while DJ Floro spins the best of salsa and reggaeton downstairs. Promotions will include two-for-one specials on beer and caipirinhas until 11PM.

The Soda party returns to Fosfobox in Copacabana tonight. DJs Thi Araujo, Ravena Creole, and Romagaga will spin the best of singles and hits on the first stage and DJs Rick Castro, Juan Leonel, and Thais Lopah will spin b-sides on Stage B during the night. Promotions will include two-for-one specials on Screwdrivers for R$20 and specials on #DrinkSoda (a drink with rum, soda, and mojito syrup) for R$10 each.

Duo (Gávea)
It’s time once again for the best of house, electro, and pop as the twelve-hour Duo party returns to Gávea’s chic 00 (Zero Zero) club. DJs will start the party tonight by spinning on the deck beginning at 5PM. Then beginning at 12AM, more DJs will follow, spinning inside on the dancefloor until 5AM Monday morning.

Arpex Party (Ipanema)
The Arpex Party returns to Barzin Bar and Restaurant in Ipanema tonight with DJ Daniel Faria spinning funk, house, hip hop and reggaeton and saxophonist Marcelo Cebukin performing live. Additionally, caipivodkas will be free until 12AM.

Roda de Samba and Football with Ballet 2 Passistas (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 5PM the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Samba Di Buteco playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. Additionally, DJ Mukato will spin during show intervals.

Rogê and Marcos Novatto (Lapa)

Big Screen NFL at Shenanigan’s (Ipanema)
With classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Every Sunday, promotions include two for one Sol beer, caipirinha and caipivodka. This long-time staple has the largest screen to watch sports in Zona Sul, and will definitely be showing the NFL playoffs today (although they will close at 2AM even if the late game is not finished).

Additionally, this is a great place to watch live sports including NFL games, with the only screen showing the NFL Red Zone, and will stay open as late as the games go.
