Rio OlympicsSunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight the 2016 Rio Olympic Games will officially end as Maracanã Stadium hosts the closing ceremony beginning at 8PM local time.

The ceremony is expected to last approximately four hours. It will include the extinguishing of the Olympic flame and the passing of the torch to Tokyo, Japan, the host of the 2020 Olympic Games.

Winner of four gold medals during the games, Simone Biles will carry the U.S. Flag during the closing ceremony.

The Mansion Rio Sem Fronteias (Santa Teresa)
During the Olympic Games in Rio from August 5th through August 21st, The Mansion Rio in Santa Teresa will be hosting special events including lunch, dinners, poolside bar, live bands, live samba, and DJs. See The Mansion Rio Facebook page for additional information.

Coro Come (Lapa)
Circo Voador will host the gastronomy event Coro Come from 12PM – 9PM. Approximately thirty stalls will offer food, snacks, and sweets, including vegetarian and vegan options, all for under R$20 each. Additionally, Alive! will sell records and DJs Calani, Alex Paz, Papaleo, Tee Cardaci, and Tatogan will spin during the event. There will also be live painting and Nathascha Francis will present the project ‘Poemas Expressos.’

Jazz no Morro with the Allbrazz Quarteto (Cantagalo)
Tonight the weekly Jazz no Morro event returns to Gilda in Cantagalo with the Allbrazz Quarteto performing jazz standards and modern works live. During show intervals, DJs will spin the best of Brazilian music and pop.

Roda de Samba with Ballet 2 Passistas (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 5PM the venue hosts a roda de samba with the group Face a Face playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. Additionally, DJ Mukato spins during show intervals.
