moondayMonday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – It’s time again to glow in the moonlight as the Rio Moonday Boat Party returns with neon paint, drinks, DJs and a nighttime boat ride around Guanabara Bay.

The party boat will begin boarding at 11PM and feature welcome shots for men until 11:30 PM and an open bar of vodka, beer and soft drinks for women until 12AM.

The boat will depart at 12:15 AM and then make its way around Guanabara Bay for four hours with DJs Angola and Judas F spinning the best of world music, funk, house and reggaeton.

Overseas (Botafogo)
Tonight Bichano Records will present a live performance by Costa Rican group Overseas at Audio Rebel in Botafogo. Additionally Canadian Chris Snelgrove and the group Regular Boat Driver will perform live during the night.

Vent! (Copacabana)
Tonight for live storytelling returns as Rio Night Live presents a new edition of the VENT! tellling it like it was event in Beco Das Garrafas in Copacabana. The international lineup of storytellers tonight will include Michael Royster (US), Stephen Garland (IRE), Raf Kiss (Belgium), Amit Kumar (UK/India), Jose Calneto (BR) and Thalya Goldfeld (US).

Rio Moonday Boat Party (Glória)
The Rio Moonday Boat Party returns tonight. Boarding will begin at 11PM at the Marina da Glória and the boat will then depart at 12:15 AM to its way around Guanabara Bay for four hours. During the trip, DJs Angola and Judas F will spin best of trap, world music, funk, house and reggaeton.

Roda de Samba with Rixxa (Lapa)
For a great night of dancing and singing, head to Lapa’s Carioca da Gema. The venue will come alive at 7:30 PM as singer and guitarist Marcos Novatto performs live. Then at 9:30 PM it’s time for three hours of samba provided by vocalist Rixxa accompanied by brilliant percussionists and members of the Zeca Pagodinho band.

Lunes Sessions @ Leviano (Lapa)
On Monday nights in September, the Leviano bar in Lapa is presenting Lunes Sessions with band Clandestinos, led by singer-songwriter Udi Fagundes, performing their covers of works by Manu Chao, Chico Science, Jorge Benjor, and Bob Marley as well as original arrangements of the best of reggae, dub, ska, and hip-hop.

Shenanigan’s (Ipanema)
With classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Monday through Friday, Happy Hour is 6PM to 8PM and Monday is half price steak night starting at 8PM.

Mab’s Restaurant and Bar (Copacabana)
This American-owned restaurant and bar on Copacabana Beach is a great place for food, drinks and entertainment. They are now serving New York-style pizza and during happy hour from 5PM to 8PM, Monday through Friday petiscos are fifty percent off and chopp is R$5.50. There is also a kilo buffet Mondays through Fridays 11-4PM. Additionally, every night, Tony Boka is performing live from 8PM until 1AM. Boka is known for his varied repertoire that always pleases the crowd.
